A Day in Ravenna

Ravenna is a city on the east coast of Italy that was an important government center during Roman times and during the Byzantine Empire. Eight monuments built over a period of 1500 years have been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the most famous of which are the sites with exquisite mosaics from the 5th and 6th centuries.
This is the Piazza del Popolo, a large central square watched over by the statues of Saint Vitale and Saint Apollinare, the two patron saints of the town.
