Searching the archives, I came across this item on our new House Majority Leader's, er, "relationship" with Big Tobacco. Michael Crowley at TPM has more here.

Also at TPM is a pointer to a recent Washington Post profile of Blunt, which pretty much serves to confirm the refrain: "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

It's fun watching Tom DeLay's death spiral and all, but let's all remember that the GOP's power base in Washington isn't dependent upon a single individual — it's machine politics, pure and simple.
