Go Vote
Well, it's election day here and in some other places. If it is where you are, and you didn't do the early vote thing, get thee to a polling place and exult in the vibrant democracy we get to celebrate for 5-45 minutes (depending on the line) every 2 years or so.
To help get you motivated, reflect on some lyrics by one of the greatest bands of all time, "X":
"Honest to goodness
the bars weren't open this morning.
They must've been voting for
a new president or something.
Do you have a quarter?"
I said yes because I did.
"Honest to goodness
the tears have been falling
all over the country's face."
It was better before,
before they voted for whats-his-name
THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE NEW WORLD.
And we all know who "whats-his-name" is now, right? I thought you did. I swear, this song rings as true today as it first did in 1983 when that other whats-his-name was president or something.

Do I really have to exult this year?
For some reason, election day here isn't until Thursday, 11/15/07, and as my sample ballot pitifully shows, there's just one race in my district, for State Senator. What's so bad? Asked recently to delineate what issue positions set him apart from his opponent, neither managed to come up with much.
