Did Anyone Check with Lott?

I wonder what Trent Lott thinks about the President coming out against affirmative action? After Lott's revelations on BET, I can't know for sure, but something tells me he will be just fine with it.

No doubt Bush hopes to get some outreach milage from the fact that the Administration's brief doesn't explicitly call for overruling Bakke or for the elimination of race in admissions. But the impact of what Bush is proposing would be nothing less than the end of affirmative action. According to affirmative action opponent Bruce Fein: "This is going to be a revolution of the landscape out there." Yikes.

Back in Carolina

I'm back down in South Carolina for a week and a half, helping my father while he recuperates from hip replacement surgery. Since the cable company can't drop a broadband connection into the house until next Tuesday, I probably won't be as chatty as usual. Which is too bad, because I'm guessing that the next several days will be pretty boring.
