William Shatner: "I'm thrilled to welcome you to the new WilliamShatner.com It's going to be a wild ride where my daughter Lisabeth and I interact with you as never before." Not sure exactly what that means, but it sounds kind of dirty… yuck.
Nat Hentoff: "Has John Ashcroft been reading Franz Kafka lately?"

Boy, what a great weekend. First off, I finally figured out what was causing the layer display problem with Netscape on the new website. Word to the wise: use document.write, not document.writeln when trying to write cross-platform JavaScript. This problem caused endless frustration for several weeks, and I went down a lot of dead ends. I'm so happy this is now behind me so I can actually get to work building new functionality.
And second, today I played golf with Bob Mondello of NPR. I hooked up with him in the first fairway, and we played nine holes together. We both had a rough start, but it he was in good humor and helped keep me that way too. Best of luck with the game, Bob, and hopefully we'll bump into each other again when we're both burning up the course.

This is probably the saddest chart I've ever seen.
This brings back some memories. Wow — the time I wasted in middle school trying to get girls to like me by playing this game! Not that I would have put that time to any more substantive use, which I guess is part of the point of being nostaligic. Viva la something-or-other!!
I just stumbled across Wil Wheaton's weblog again. I thought it was kind of cool when I first read it a few months ago, but in the back on my mind I was saying, "Just PR, it won't last". Well, it has, and good for him. He's really sharing his life with the world, so maybe we can all get over the obvious pop-culture references that are just an excuse for a bit of cynicism. Keep on trucking, Wil!
It's still early in the morning — about 4am to be precise. I'm pulling what seems to be an all-nighter, and for once in a long while it's not about work. I'm just up, drinking wine, surfing, reading email… It feels good. Tomorrow will probably be a complete train wreck, and I have some programming to do, but fuck it, I'm having fun NOW.
