The Electronic Privacy Information Center has posted its analysis of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The Register: Broader surveillance won't prevent terrorism - Schneier. Schneier: "You can either build a system right or build it wrong and watch everybody. Broad surveillance is generally the sign of a badly designed system of security." The better solution? More human intelligence.
I've been playing that penguin in space game way too much the last couple of days. It's addictive!
CNN has a rather nice map of the damage in New York City.
Howard Kurtz: In Search of a Strategy.
Washington Post: White House Drops Claim of Threat to Bush. Bush can't get it together in the early moments of the crisis, so Cheney et. al. cover for him by lying about a threat against the President. Incredible.
I watched the series premiere of Enterprise last night, and came away with mixed feelings about the show. The theme song and opening montage are horrible. I wasn't thrilled with the story line, but some of the scenes (e.g. the firefight on Rigel) were well done. I need to wait a few more episodes before commenting more extensively on the main characters, but I didn't hate Scott Bakula as much as I thought I would, and Tucker is my early favorite. Of course, /. is talking about this, too.
Washington Post: Web-Page Collection Preserves The Online Response to Horror. The collection will be launched on October 11.
