The New York Times reported yesterday that the Progressive Policy Institute has released a new study calling for the regulation of Napster and other tools which allow the sharing of copyrighted material over the net. This is just silly. Napster is nothing special, just filesharing with real-time indexing. Ban this, and you might as well ban the net. Andy Oram agrees.

My new PC still sits half-finished on my living room floor. I futzed with it for about an hour today, and I can't get it to boot, or even display the POST message. I tried it with a new video card today, but no luck. Tomorrow I'll lug the thing down to the office and see if the hardware geeks in IS can figure out what I've done wrong.

Best laid plans: I worked on my new server on Saturday, but after I got everything hooked up, the damn thing wouldn't boot. Might be the video card, might be ghosts in the machine. Didn't have the energy to futz with it on Sunday; maybe tonight.
