Washington Post: Pay Gap Between Workers and Bosses Explodes. "…the sixth annual survey of executive compensation by the Institute for Policy Studies and United for a Fair Economy, finds the ratio of top executive to factory worker pay has exploded this decade to 419 to 1 last year from 42 to 1 in 1980." Now, this is just wrong.
Washington Post: Security Tight as East Timor Polls Open. A good article, one that actually makes reference to the human rights abuses perpetrated by the Indonesian government on the island's population for more than 20 years, as well as the reason why Indonesia fears Timorese independence now. Pray for peace, everyone — it's going to be a long day in East Timor.
Steven Jay Gould: Dorothy, It's Really Oz. Gould here repeats the obvious, but given the decision in Kansas, it seems to need repeating: science and religion aren't contrary, but complementary ways of understanding different aspects of the world.
Karl-Erik Tallmo: The word "OK" - a linguistic virus from the eighth president of the USA. "The word 'Cancel' is about as common in computer dialog boxes, but it doesn't get clicked as often as 'OK'. It is quite reassuring to know that I am a rather affirmative character after all."
Wired News: Hotmail Accounts Exposed to All. Wow, a Microsoft product with a huge security hole. Why is this still even considered news?
